Highlander Folk School and the Making of an Anthem
Short documentary film created to accompany undergraduate thesis paper based on original historical research. This film follows the evolution of the civil rights anthem, “We Shall Overcome,” from its humble beginnings on picket lines to the landmark March on Washington. It examines the role and methods of one rural school in disseminating the song and fostering interracial allyship at a time when race relations were most hostile in United States history.
